The act of not pitching for an event has plagued the South African entertainment industry.
A month doesn’t go by without an outcry from a booking agent or from a disappointed audience who paid for an artist’s entertainment.
The music business has become sore for some agents who survive on money from events.
Over the past two years, the no-show has become a trend and different media houses have their ears filled with complaints.
Some of these musicians have apologised to their fans for disappointing them, while a few explained reasons for not pitching for their booked gigs.
Below are 10 South African musicians who have been called out over a no-show:
1. YOUNG STUNNA
In September 2022, Sunday World reported that the Amapiano vocalist refused to show up to a gig after being paid R50 000.

2. DJ MAPHORISA
DJ Maphorisa was dragged to court in 2022 for refusing to pitch at Zimbabwe’s Vic Falls Carnival.
3. KABZA DE SMALL
Kabza alongside his music partner, Phori were ordered to be arrested by Zimbabwe high court due to their no-show at Zimbabwe’s Vic Falls Carnival in 2022.
4. MAKHADZI
The hitmaker got called out severally for refusing to pitch at gigs and to refund the paid booking fee.
