There are strong indications that the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential ticket for 2023 may have been zoned to the Southern region.
This comes after the PDP’s leadership reportedly resolved to zone the party’s national chairmanship position to the north, a strong indication that the party may now pivot to the south in search of a presidential candidate.
Kola Ologbondiyan, the PDP’s national spokesperson, could not immediately be reached for comment on the development.
However, Deji Adeyanju, the party’s former Director of New Media, confirmed the news in a tweet on Thursday.
This development may rule out the possibility of Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s former presidential candidate and former Vice President, running for president under the party banner in 2023.
