Sharon Wesley, the Captain of Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) of Nigeria has pledged to make Nigeria proud at the forthcoming 38th edition of Open De Libreville in Gabon.
The Open with $5000 prize money for women and $2000 for the winner, is scheduled for the Libreville Golf Club from May 25-28 for the professionals and May 27-29 for the amateurs as May 22 is for practice.
However, the Nigerian lady professional who is on the invitation of the Gabonese Golf Federation led by Marie Cecile Poncet, believes she is well prepared for the top spot rather than to make up numbers.
“Yeah! This tournament is going to be a very tough one, because it’s an international event and players are coming from all walks of life; but I promise to make Nigeria proud and I’m prepared for the challenge; I’ll be aiming for the top position and not just to make up numbers,” she affirmed.

Recall Sharon turned professional in 2020 and was elected Captain of the LPGA of Nigeria; she has participated in series of tournaments and programmes organised by the PGA of Nigeria recently.
In the same vein, the IBB Golf Club, Abuja-based player has mapped out programmes to put the LPGA of Nigeria in a good stead, just as the inaugural event is coming up in no distant time.
