Following the announcement of his first voice over gig for local clothing brand, ‘Galxyboy’ is Pretoria’s very own Rapper 25K as he took to his social media to thank all of his fans for supporting during the course of the year as ‘Pheli Makaveli (Intro)’ has reached Gold Status as we speak. This is a precious moment as this single forms part of his debut album that is also titled ‘Pheli Makaveli’.
25K first rose to stardom through his single ‘Culture Vulture’ in 2019 as it trended all over the ‘internet streets’. This was a first of it’s kind as not many had heard a flow as sick as his and let alone the lingo he utilised in his lyrics. He without a doubt represented his hometown ‘Pheli’. He then released visuals for the single as many went crazy over the song, it was about time before they circulated on every music channel. What made him stand out was his authenticity and his ‘brown, leather side bag that he wore from inside’.
The song became so big to an extent where he performed it at the South African Hip-Hop Awards in 2019. He later released the remix of the song featuring, Emtee, AKA and Boity as they went crazy with their bars and flows. This was done through a single deal with Sony Music Africa before receiving a Joint Venture deal. 25K has since made moves as he made use of the opportunity to create new music and lock in with new artists and producers.
As time went on he then graced us with his debut album, ‘Pheli Makaveli’ of which featured the likes of A-Reece on ‘Hustlers Prayer’ as well as Emtee on ‘Self Made’. This was followed by a documentary of his hometown where he showed us the places he grew up in and schooled at as well as his hairdresser. This was a beautiful thing to see as not many artists would want to take their fans on a journey to where ‘home’ is at, if anything they would rather show them the life on the road only.
He has since grown his catalogue through numerous collaborations with DJ Sliqe and Maglera Doe Boy on their recent album ‘CHAMPION MUSIC 2’. He has also spent time locking in with artists in their singles as he contributed to the ‘NEVER RIDE REMIX’ by Mashbeatz and Thato Saul. We have since seen his career grow to greater heights and this is reflected in the attained acheivements such as the voice over gig and now his single ‘Pheli Makaveli’ reaching Gold Status as well as the ‘Never Ride Remix’ receiving an award for Best Remix at this year’s SAHHAs.
