Meeting deadlines is important in any job.

But if you consistently fail to deliver work on time, it subconsciously shows that you lack time management skills and are not reliable enough.

Your boss or employer won’t depend on you, and instead give your projects to other team members.

In the long run, this would not only push you back in the corporate rat race but can also cost you your job for being inefficient.

1. Poor communication skills

Communication is the key for any relationship to thrive– be it personal or professional. Clear, open, and effective communication is important in the workplace. But, if you consistently fail to respond to emails, misinterpret instructions, or do not speak up in meetings, then it can lead to misunderstandings and even costly mistakes. Poor communication skills also affect teamwork and make working together with others difficult. To avoid this, practice active listening. Think before you speak, when in doubt do clarify them, doubts, and ensure you respond to messages on time

2. Having a negative attitude

A negative attitude and constant gossip can create a toxic work environment. Complaining about your work, and colleagues, spreading rumours, or criticising company policies can damage your professional reputation. Employers often want people who have a positive attitude to work and are team players. But, if you are seen as someone who always complains or gossips, then it will create a negative image. So instead of cribbing, focus on solutions and have a growth mindset at the workplace.

3. Poor productivity

Procrastinating and delaying work or being unproductive consistently can reflect poorly on your work ethic. Bosses expect employees to be efficient. But if you frequently waste time on personal tasks, social media, or unnecessary distractions, your performance will suffer and it can even lead to job loss.

4. Resistance to feedback and change

With work environments changing at a fast pace, employers often want people who are quick to adapt to challenges. And so, those who show resistance to feedback and change are often considered uncooperative and problematic employees. Remember, constructive criticism is meant to help you improve and be better at your job. Be open to feedback and to changes, as these qualities will help you grow. On the contrary, people who are considered to be difficult to work with often end up being in their boss’s bad books and even losing their jobs.

5. Constantly missing deadlines

Meeting deadlines is important in any job. But if you consistently fail to deliver work on time, it subconsciously shows that you lack time management skills and are not reliable enough. Your boss or employer won’t depend on you, and instead give your projects to other team members.
