Friday September 23 to Saturday 24 2022 will be action packed days for 64 Senior golfers who will be participating in the second edition of Golfsixes Nigeria Tournament holding at the Ikeja Golf Club in Lagos.

The tournament which tees off ceremonially on Friday September 23 at 7:30 a.m. going by its name is a 6- hole Greensome Matchplay Team event, just as completing the 18 holes round of golf means a greensome team must play against three different sets with changes in every 6-hole.

The event which debuted successfully in 2021 at GEJ Golf Club, Abuja and Ikeja Golf Club, is a trademark of 4E Sports Promotion Limited, introduced to celebrate senior citizens believed to have contributed their quota to the development of golf in Nigeria;

Thus, only players who are 55 years and above are qualified to participate in the two days event even as notable players within the age bracket are also eligible to play.

Emy Ekong, Co-founder of 4E Sports and the Chairperson of the Organising Committee however, revealed that the 2022 edition started with Minna Cantonment Golf Club in June sponsored by Lien Royal Ltd in Collaboration with the Club.

She enthused that this edition would have participants from across the South West Zone viz the host club Ikeja, Ikoyi, and Dolphin.; others are Ibadan, Ilorin and Abeokuta, but emphasised that priority will be accorded the host club.

Ekong who assured that the 2022 edition will be great fun and worth memorable also affirmed that it would be an improvement of the inaugural tournament of 2021.

“This second edition of Ikeja Golf Club will be an improvement of the first one; it will be real fun for participants,” she said while already eyeing the third edition.

But the co-founder who was wary of sponsorship added, “We are also hopeful that the 3rd edition will be better than this 2022 edition as well by next year, if more companies can support this event for our distinguished Senior Citizens.”

“For now, we have our partners; ADL Solutions, Xpress Solutions, Golfview Hotel & Suites and Participants to thank for putting this together for the second time. We thank them for supporting this dream,” she concluded.

At the end of the event, special trophies will be awarded to the best overall four positions and their four team members.
