The organisers of the 9th Awa Ibraheem Junior Open Tournament have formally announced October 20-22 as the date for the 2022 edition billed for the prestigious Ikeja Golf Club in Lagos Nigeria.
The development was made known to the press on Thursday night in a statement signed by Emy Ekong on behalf of the organising committee.
The annual event which has churned out talents in golf according to the statement, is restricted to age 6-17 only as entry closes October 7.
However, Thursday October 20 is the arrival and registration date for all participating players, just as practice tees off at 4:00 p.m. same day.
In the same vein, the competition proper will hold Friday October 21 and Saturday October 22 when the kids will file out to showcase their talents and skills – swinging, chipping and putting.
it is also revealed that accommodation, meals and entry fees are free for all participants while the three-day event lasts.
Offers that await the winner and runner-up of the 2022 9th edition of the Awa Ibraheem Junior Open which attracts kids from across Nigeria and beyond include sport and education programme.
Thus, I-YES International Golf Academy will be offering automatic admission into an International Golf Academy in 2023 to the winner and runner-up; training and presentation of graduates to play in minor tours in Europe and America and scholarship to ta United States university.
The Junior Open is sanctioned by Royal and Ancient of St Andrews (R&A) Scotland and also a World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) tournament; a reason the kids are expected to be in their best form to grab the offers at stake.
Recall the event also serves as a time to appreciate the sponsor, Alhaji Awa Ibraheem at his birthday.
