Mama Joy, real name Joy Chauke has left many football fans speculating after dropping subtle hints that she may have distanced herself from Royal AM.
This comes amid chaos surrounding the club’s future, including its expulsion from the PSL and recent financial woes tied to tax allegations involving owner Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize.
Just a few years ago, Mama Joy made headlines when she parted ways with Orlando Pirates after three decades of loyal support to throw her weight behind Royal AM. But now, her allegiance seems to be shifting once again.
In recent activity on her X account, Mama Joy changed her profile photo from one where she wore Royal AM colours to a new one featuring her and her French husband.
Responding to a fan, she clarified that her man was now “providing” for her, further fueling rumours that she has cut ties with the club.
Adding to the speculation, she reposted a heartfelt open letter addressed to MaMkhize by Royal AM supporters.
A portion of it reads: “We are here for you; we want you to know that we are thinking of you and sending you all love and support during this challenging time. We know words may not be enough to ease the pain, but we want you to know that we will always support you… We have no doubt that you will navigate through this difficult time and emerge stronger than ever.”
Mama Joy has maintained that she was never on Royal AM’s payroll, but her recent posts suggest a shift in focus — from club loyalty to personal peace.
Meanwhile, MaMkhize herself recently broke her silence with a reflective Instagram post.
Sharing a photo of herself at home, she simply wrote: “My side of the story doesn’t matter anymore. Life happened. It hurt; I healed.”
