The contracted group includes newcomers Lizaad Williams, Senuran Muthusamy and Kwena Maphaka.

Big-hitting batter Heinrich Klaasen’s international future appears uncertain after the 33-year-old and Cricket South Africa seemingly failed to come to an agreement about a Proteas contract.

And, veteran stars David Miller and Rassie van der Dussen will only play in a limited number of series’ for the national white ball teams in the coming months.

CSA on Monday announced their latest list of contracted players for the forthcoming season and Klaasen’s name is absent from the 18-player group.

However, CSA have handed new contracts to Lizaad Williams and Senuran Muthusamy, as well as rookie fast bowler Kwena Maphaka, who is just 18 years old.

The new contracts are for the period from 1 June 2025 to 31 May 2026.

‘Discussions regarding Klaasen are ongoing’

Miller and Van der Dussen have been given “hybrid” contracts which will require them to participate in specific agreed-upon bilateral tours and ICC events.

All CSA said in a press release on Monday about Klaasen was: “Discussions regarding Heinrich Klaasen’s future are ongoing, and a final decision will be made in due course.”

Wiaan Mulder, David Bedingham and Kyle Verreynne all earned contract upgrades during the current season and have been retained for the upcoming season.

The contracts will cover a busy season for the national team with bilateral tours away to Zimbabwe, Australia, England, Pakistan and India, as well as a home series against the West Indies.

The calendar will also feature two major ICC events, namely the World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia, which will take place at Lord’s in England in June, and the T20 World Cup 2026, to be played in India and Sri Lanka early next year.
