RIP: DJ Choc laid to rest! South African music icon Mbuyiselo ‘DJ Choc’ Ngwenya was laid to rest on Saturday following his passing after a short illness. The Vosloorus Civic Centre in Ekurhuleni was filled with hundreds of mourners who came to pay their final respects.
Among those in attendance were notable figures from the entertainment industry, including award-winning DJ Cleo, comedian Isaac Gampu, and fellow DJs Mike Maile, Terance Molefe, Lucky, and Nhlanhla Shabangu.

Emotional Tribute from Daughter Lady Du
DJ Choc’s daughter, popular singer Lady Du, delivered a moving tribute, thanking the public for their support during the family’s difficult time.
“I just ask when you see us in the streets, please give us a hug,” she said. “To my daddy, you’ve fought your battle. I pray that God receives you well.”

Deep house DJ Terance Molefe also shared a heartfelt message: “I am wishing comfort and peace for his family during this challenging time. DJ Choc, R.I.P.”
Laid to Rest in Hometown
DJ Choc was buried at the Isaac Scotty Nyashengo Cemetery in Vosloorus, closing the final chapter on a life that inspired many in South Africa’s music scene.
