The fine comes after the Eastern Cape based team failed to field enough black African players in a match.
Cricket South Africa (CSA) have fined the Warriors R100,000 for failing to meet transformation requirements.
The Eastern Cape-based team copped the fine following a mediation process over the last few days.
It follows from the Warriors not fielding enough black African players in a match against the Dolphins in February. All teams are required to field three black African players; the Warriors fielded only two.
The Warriors should have asked Cricket South Africa for permission to not adhere to the requirements.
The Warriors also lost log points because of their breach.
‘Committed to transformation’
On Tuesday, CSA said the dispute with the Warriors regarding administrative compliance had been amicably resolved through a successful mediation process.
Their statement adds: “As part of the agreement, the Warriors have accepted their current log position and will pay an amount of R100,000 towards CSA’s grassroots cricket development initiatives in under-resourced communities within the Eastern Cape. The payment will be made within 14 days of the settlement.
“Both CSA and the Warriors remain united in their commitment to transforming cricket in South Africa. Together, they will continue to drive inclusive and sustainable efforts to ensure the sport is accessible and equitable for all.”
According to Rapport, the Warriors had challenged the allegations against them because in the specific match, against the Dolphins on February 16, they had still fielded six players of colour and over the last 20 years exceeded all transformation targets.
