MK party threatens Malatsi with court action if Starlink gazette not scrapped
Demands have been made of Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies Solly Malatsi to retract his gazette on the procurement of digital infrastructure.
Dubbed the “Starlink gazette”, Malatsi has been accused of using the regulation to pave the way for Elon Musk to provide his satellite internet product to South Africa without meeting transformation requirements.


The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party’s Colleen Makhubele submitted a letter through parliamentary channels on Friday expressing their desire to have the regulation scrapped.

Ramaphosa death threat case postponed to June
The man accused of making threats aimed at President Cyril Ramaphosa appeared in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
The accused has been identified by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) as 27-year-old Phillip Sebole Masango.


Masango was arrested in Germiston on Friday and transported to the Western Cape over the weekend to attend his court appearance.

A devastating shack fire during the early hours of May 26 has claimed the lives of six family members in Kwa-Thema Marikana Ext 3, leaving a seven-year-old girl as the sole survivor in a heart-wrenching tragedy that has shaken the local community.
According to residents, the fire broke out in the early hours of the morning. Community members reported hearing loud noises as the flames began to spread.


“I heard loud banging and immediately thought there was a fight outside,” said Class Mabena, a neighbour and a close friend of the deceased family.

Nabi drops hint over Chiefs future
Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has indicated that he is going to stay at Amakhosi next season.
There has been speculation around Nabi’s position at the helm of Amakhosi. And that is only likely to intensify after Chiefs’ goalless draw with Polokwane City on Saturday.


The draw was Chiefs’ ninth consecutive Premiership match without a win. It meant they missed out on a place in the MTN8 for the second season in a row.

Fuel levy pain: Brace for possibility of petrol price hike in June
South African motorists will feel the impact of the fuel levy increase at the pumps when the official price changes for petrol and diesel kicks in on Wednesday, 4 June.
Budget 3.0’s inflation-based general fuel levy (GFL) hike will see petrol prices increase by 16 cents to R4.01, while diesel tax will rise by 15 cents to R3.85.


Based on current over-recovery trends, consumers should consider themselves lucky if petrol sees a marginal decrease of 3 cents per litre in June.
