Amapiano star Young Stunna has opened up about painful experiences that have shadowed some of the biggest moments in his career. I
n a candid social media post, the artist, whose real name is Sandile Fortune Msimango, revealed that he never received platinum plaques for his hit singles “Baxolele” and “Dlala Captain,” despite their massive success.
Although he confirmed that royalties continue to come in, the lack of official recognition from his former label, Simnandi Records, left him disheartened.
“Those songs are so important to me, but I kept quiet and kept pushing,” he shared.
“I’ve always known my worth, but the industry taught me painful lessons—like how speaking up sometimes means getting shut down.”
Stunna admitted that silence became a way to shield his mental health, especially after repeatedly being told to be “grateful” instead of raising concerns.
Now emotionally stronger, he says he’s let go of the resentment, even though no one has ever offered him an apology.
“Silence is the best revenge. I’ve learned to rely on my love for music to keep me grounded.”
The singer also encouraged young artists to keep going, no matter how tough the road gets.
“Keep making music, take the small gigs, and rebrand if you have to. Don’t stop because you’re hurt, move forward anyway.”
Addressing the bullying he’s endured, Stunna didn’t shy away from revealing he’s been ridiculed over his appearance and sexuality.
“I’ve been called ‘Gay,’ ‘Down syndrome boy,’ and worse… but I pray every day for strength. I’ll never give up.”
