Former Ukhozi FM presenter Ngizwe Mchunu is facing backlash after his recent homophobic outburst led to him being denied entry to Kwa Mai-Mai in Johannesburg.

Despite the public outrage and an ongoing South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) investigation, Mchunu has remained defiant and unapologetic.

In his earlier rant, the self-proclaimed president of the “bhinca nation” criticized members of the LGBTQIA+ community and expressed disapproval of their presence at the popular Kwa Mai-Mai eatery.

When he was later refused entry to the venue, Mchunu took to social media again, releasing another video targeting Somizi Mhlongo.

“I am still standing tall. I am not going to pretend, straightforward,” Mchunu said, insisting that he was unbothered by the backlash.

He went on to challenge Somizi, saying, “I am challenging you to ask your people, because you damaged the nation by dating both men and women. Therefore, we will not be told by you what we can and cannot do. Ask your people to apologise to me and then leave the Zulu culture.”

Mchunu’s comments have raised concern after he appeared to make remarks that could incite violence, saying, “As the president of the bhinca nation, I declare that gay people must leave the Zulu culture and create their own.”
