Sho Madjozi supports protesters in Tanzania

South African rapper and singer Sho Madjozi has voiced her concern for the people of Tanzania amid reports of unrest in the country.

Taking to Instagram, the John Cena hitmaker penned a heartfelt message in Swahili, expressing her love for Tanzania and support for its citizens’ right to peaceful protest.

She revealed that she’s been unable to reach her friends in Tanzania since the previous day, saying she is deeply worried about their safety.

“Tangu jana siwezi kupata marafiki zangu Tanzania kwenye simu. Niko worried sana,” she wrote.

Madjozi went on to emphasize that Tanzanians, like all people, deserve the freedom to choose their leaders and to protest peacefully without fear or violence.

“Ninaamini kuwa Watanzania, kama watu wote, wana haki ya kuchagua waongozi wao, na haki pia ya kuandamana kwa amani bila hofu au vurugu.”

In her statement, she praised the gentle nature of Tanzanians, adding that if such calm people have been driven to protest, it means something serious is happening.

“Siyo jambo rahisi kufanya watu wapole kama Watanzania wajikute wakipambana, inamaana kuna jambo kubwa sana.”

Addressing those in power, Sho Madjozi warned that the world is watching, urging leaders to respond with change rather than oppression.

“Mnaweza kuzima mtandao, lakini hamwezi kuzima tamaa ya kuona mabadiliko. Maombi ya watu yanapaswa kujibiwa kwa mabadiliko, siyo kwa ukandamizaji.”

She ended her message with a plea for peace, reminding protestors to stay calm and avoid violence.

“Kwa wale wanaoandamana, tusiruhusu hasira zetu zitufanye tuwe na vurugu; vurugu ni silaha yao, siyo yetu. Tafadhali muwe salama.”

Alongside her message, Sho Madjozi shared photos of her previous visits to Tanzania, moments that showed her strong connection with the country and its people.

Her post has since sparked wide discussions online, with fans applauding her courage and empathy for speaking out during a tense time.
