Tebogo Thobejane

Tebogo Thobejane has spoken openly about how surviving a shooting has changed the way people view her romantically.

The former Muvhango actress, who previously escaped an alleged assassination attempt linked to her ex-boyfriend Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala, revealed during an Instagram Live that men have become afraid to pursue her.

Back in 2023, Tebogo survived a horrifying shooting on the N1 highway in Johannesburg.

The incident left her with an injured foot while her friend was left paralysed, forcing her to temporarily move to Dubai before eventually returning home.

Although she has healed physically, it’s the social and emotional impact that continues to linger, especially in her love life.

In a recent Instagram Live clip reshared online, she expressed that men no longer approach her the way they used to.

According to her, the moment they see her name trending alongside the shooting incident, they automatically distance themselves.

“Let me tell you something about men. You think that men are brave. Men are not brave. There’s no man that’s gonna come and say, ‘Yah, come, I’m gonna get you. Don’t worry, baby, I’m gonna take care of you because someone wants to shoot you,’” she said.

Tebogo added that before this happened, men took interest in her without hesitation.

Now, because the story is all over the internet, they stay away.

“You walk into a room, there’s a bunch of men who any other day, if it wasn’t for this shooting, any of them would have taken me, married me, dated me, made me go around the world. But now, when they see it’s all over Google: she’s been shot, this, this, she’s a snitch, she’s this,” she stated.

She believes many of these men are powerful business figures and politicians who have their own dark involvements, but according to her, “they don’t kill people.”

Tebogo also mentioned that being judged over the shooting incident has deeply affected her confidence.
