Actor Thembinkosi Mthembu

South African actor Thembinkosi Mthembu has spoken candidly about the devastating loss of his sister, who was allegedly killed by her partner.

The Shaka iLembe star shared his story during an interview on 702’s Afternoons with Relebogile Mabotja, reflecting on how deeply the tragedy affected him and his family.

Mthembu recalled first meeting his sister’s partner and immediately sensing the toxicity in the relationship.

He described how the way the man expressed his love seemed dangerous from the start.

“I could see the way he loved her was dangerous,” Mthembu said.

As their relationship continued, he noted that his sister’s partner began to change, ultimately leading to their breakup.

Tragically, that breakup reportedly marked the beginning of the end, as the man allegedly went on to take her life.

The actor also spoke about a recent attempt by the perpetrator’s stepmother to reach out after Mthembu had discussed the incident on a podcast.

“His stepmother tried to reach out after an interview I did, which was on a podcast. I think she saw I’m still struggling and had attempted to talk to me, but I was like, ‘No, it’s okay. If they wanted to check up, they would have done that before the podcast.’”

Mthembu shared how difficult it has been to accept that someone who claimed to love his sister was responsible for her death.
