Siv Ngesi claims to be an atheist

South African actor and media personality Siv Ngesi has set social media abuzz after sharing a candid confession about his faith and musical taste.

Taking to X, the outspoken star wrote: “I don’t believe in God, but I love gospel music!”

The tweet quickly gained traction, drawing mixed reactions from users who weighed in on the apparent contradiction between disbelief and devotion to a genre deeply rooted in faith.

One user responded by suggesting that Ngesi’s love for gospel music hinted at something deeper.

“The spirit inside u, knows the truth thats why love Gospel… its ur smart brain leading u astray but uzoba right,” they wrote.

Another echoed similar sentiments, sharing their own perspective: “I also don’t believe in God and I love gospel 2.. it’s because human being we are spiritual like that.. we can feel through our spirit that there’s a higher power..”

Others were more curious than critical.

One person simply asked, “Are you angry with God?”

Meanwhile, some defended Ngesi’s stance, arguing that music and belief do not always have to align.

“And it’s absolutely okay. Music is somewhat spiritual to some extent, I don’t think feeling it at times has anything to do with the genre,” another user commented.
