We caught up with Maglera Doe Boy on the ground, where he provided a clear update on his forthcoming joint project with longtime collaborator and friend 25K. The rapper confirmed that while the project is in development, key details such as the title and release date are still undecided.
“We don’t have a name for that project, it just has been an idea that we’ve had for years, especially after what we did on Champion Music 1 and 2 with Sliqe, and we felt like that was a curation that already had a foundation,” he said.
Maglera explained that their previous work under the Champion Music series played a role in shaping their thinking around a collaborative body of work. However, he noted that the new project is intended to reflect their own direction from a creative and curatorial standpoint.
“Champion Music 1 and 2, it was Sliqe’s idea, and we wanted to do something of our own, and we pick who curates, we pick the sonic, and when Kilo speaks about it, he says it’s my idea and I’m pushing for it because I’m a visual thinker, and I think it comes from directing so much from all these years without dropping music,” he continued.
He further indicated that both artists are approaching the project with intention, focusing on how it is built rather than rushing its release. According to him, there is no immediate timeline attached to the work at this stage.
“It doesn’t have a name yet, it doesn’t have a date yet, so please whoever is watching this, don’t put pressure on me. All I know is for the rest of the year, me and my friend are gonna make music, that is why I was in the mountains where the Sotho people come from and that is why he went to Mega to go find that power,” he added.
The update confirms that the collaboration between Maglera Doe Boy and 25K remains a work in progress, with both artists focusing on the creative process and the development of a sound that reflects their shared vision.
At this stage, no further details regarding the project’s structure, features, or rollout have been confirmed, as both artists continue working on the music.
