Kelvin Momo breathes easy as R2.8 million lawsuit is withdrawn

Kelvin Momo has been handed a major reprieve after a R2.8 million lawsuit that once threatened to shake his career was abruptly withdrawn.

The amapiano hitmaker, born Thato Ledwaba, had been caught in a legal storm tied to alleged missed international performances.

Promoters had accused him of failing to honour bookings abroad, particularly in Australia, claiming deposits were paid for shows he allegedly did not attend or reschedule, leading to demands for refunds and damages running into millions.

What initially appeared headed for a drawn-out courtroom battle has now taken an unexpected turn.

The matter has been resolved behind closed doors, with both parties agreeing to settle “amicably,” effectively putting an end to the dispute without further legal proceedings.

At the height of the controversy, reports suggested the situation had escalated to the point where his business operations were under threat.

According to Daily Sun, “the situation was so serious that there were moves to liquidate his company, sending shockwaves through the amapiano scene and leaving fans questioning the future of one of the genre’s biggest names.”

With the case now officially off the table, Kelvin Momo is said to be relieved and focused on moving forward.

The saga, however, left fans split, while some stood firmly behind the “Private School Amapiano” pioneer, others called for accountability over the alleged missed gigs.

Despite the turbulence, the producer’s standing in the industry remains strong.

He continues to command attention on the scene and is currently nominated for two awards at the 2026 Metro FM Music Awards, including Best Produced Album and Best Male Artist.
