South African rapper Lucasraps has introduced a new visual layer to his latest body of work with the release of a short YouTube film titled Y.O.G Unfiltered: on VHS. The film arrives as an extension of his recently released project Y.O.G, offering a closer look into the creative process and moments surrounding its making.

Taking to social media, Lucasraps announced the film with a brief description, stating: “Not a documentary, not a music video – just a window into Lucasraps in motion.” The statement sets the tone for a piece that exists outside traditional music visuals, positioning the film as an observational capture rather than a structured narrative.

On YouTube, the description further outlines the intention behind the short film. It is presented as “not a documentary, not a music video—just a window into Lucasraps in motion,” expanding on the idea of movement and process. The film is described as drifting through the Y.O.G era in fragments, combining studio moments, passing scenes, and quiet reflections. Rather than explaining the music, the visuals focus on capturing its environment and the spaces in which it was created.

The approach taken in Y.O.G Unfiltered: on VHS reflects a fragmented storytelling style. According to the description, the film is “unfiltered and stitched together,” emphasizing rawness and continuity between moments. It brings together behind-the-scenes glimpses, ambient studio recordings, and transitional visuals that collectively document a period in the artist’s career without following a linear storyline.

This release is directly tied to Y.O.G, a 10-track project that officially dropped on 20 March 2026. The project marked Lucasraps’ latest solo release and was introduced following a rollout that included teasers, visual branding, and the early release of singles such as “eGoli.” Prior to its release, the artist confirmed the date through a minimal social media post reading “Y.O.G 20/03,” which served as the first official announcement of the project.

Upon release, Y.O.G was positioned as a focused and intentional body of work, built around lyric-driven hip-hop and a refined sonic direction. The project forms the foundation of the visual narrative explored in the short film, with Y.O.G Unfiltered: on VHS acting as a complementary piece that documents the atmosphere and mindset during its creation.

Through this short film, Lucasraps extends the Y.O.G experience beyond audio, presenting a visual interpretation that centers on process, environment, and transition. The film does not aim to define the project but instead captures its moments as they unfolded, aligning with the idea of the music being lived rather than explained.
