Lucasraps recently appeared on Spreading Humours, where he reflected on his connection with the late Riky Rick and addressed discussions that surfaced following lyrical interpretations in the music scene. The conversation developed after the host broke down Blxckie’s track “KARMAA,” which contains a line referencing alleged remarks made by Riky Rick before his passing.
In “KARMAA,” Blxckie delivers the line: “Would be terrified about the shit Riky told me about you before he left, n*gga.” The lyric prompted questions during the interview regarding whether Lucasraps had ever been made aware of such claims or discussions. Lucasraps responded cautiously, choosing not to confirm or engage with the allegation.
He stated, “I’m not gonna speak on that because I don’t know,” and added that he could not validate comments attributed to someone who is no longer alive to confirm them. He continued, “Why would I speak on Riky when he can’t even tell me if it’s true or not.”
Following the breakdown of the track and the discussion around the lyric, Lucasraps shifted the focus back to his direct experience with Riky Rick and their time working together. It was in this context that he made reference to their collaboration and his final recorded interaction with the late rapper.
He said, “It could be something that was said, it could have not been something that was said but I was the last person to see that guy. I have a song with him, I have the last song with that n*gga, he was at my house.”
The track in question is “What It Is,” a 2019 collaboration featuring Riky Rick, Lucasraps, Chang Cello and producer Dr Peppa. The record was produced by Dr Peppa and included contributions from all featured artists, with Riky Rick’s verse forming part of a broader collaborative structure typical of South African hip-hop posse cuts during that period. The song circulated within the scene as part of Riky Rick’s later collaborative work.
Lucasraps reiterated that his reference was based on his own experience in the studio and his final interaction with Riky Rick, stating that their recording session remains the last confirmed time he worked with him directly before his passing.
