SA Hip Hop Fans React To Stogie T’s ‘Four Horsemen’ Winning Metro FM Music Award for Best Hip Hop

Stogie T has been announced as the winner of the Best Hip Hop category at the Metro FM Music Awards 2026 for his track “Four Horsemen”, a collaboration featuring Nasty C, Maggz and A-Reece. The win was confirmed during the awards ceremony, where the category was positioned among some of the most closely watched entries in South African hip hop for the year.

The Best Hip Hop category reportedly included a competitive line-up of songs that reflected a range of mainstream and lyrical contributions within the genre. Among the entries frequently referenced in public discussions were Big Zulu and Emtee’s collaboration “Abazazi Bafunani”, “Umguzumbane We Summer” by Makwa and Kwesta, and “Supanova” by K.O featuring Cassper Nyovest. “Four Horsemen” was one of the collaborations that drew attention prior to the awards due to its combination of lyric-driven artists.

Following the announcement, Stogie T shared a message on Instagram reflecting on the win. He wrote: “Muhle uJehova uyakhumbulana. This is the Lord’s doing. One of the collaborators on “Four Horsemen”, Nasty C, responded to the post with an emoji reaction, which was interpreted by followers as a gesture of acknowledgement and support for the win.

Big Zulu, who was also nominated in the category alongside his collaboration “Abazazi Bafunani” featuring Emtee, issued a public message congratulating Stogie T. His statement read: “Ngicela ukuthatha lelithuba ngibongele umfwethu @stogie_t nge win ye Best Hip Hop siyakubongela Qhawe lakith usebenzile muhle umsebenzi 🇿🇦SA HIP HOP❤️👏🏿.” Translated into English, the message reads: “I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate my brother @stogie_t on the Best Hip Hop win. We congratulate you, our hero, you have worked hard, well done South African Hip Hop.”

Fan reactions also emerged across social media platforms, particularly on Instagram, where users commented on the outcome of the category. One user wrote, “It’s about ime bro wins . That was just a hit, everyone finally got Reece and Nasty on a song because of him, well deserved.” Another comment read, “When you realise you’re living in ‘when the time is right, I, the Lord will make it happen’.”

Additional Instagram responses included remarks such as, “yeah man bro been a impeccable and impressive lyricist. His talent has not been commisioned enough, the song gave him that. He deserves it,” and, “Congratulations bro! Incredible body of work. Hope you tour the full album soon with the featured guests, and some music videos too.”

On X (formerly Twitter), reactions from artists and users in the hip hop community also circulated. Rapper Rouge posted a message stating, “We love you Stogie!!!!!!🥹‼️‼️‼️‼️ Best HipHop award!!!!!”

Industry commentator Andile Mcube wrote, “Wilson B gets an honourable mention but THIS, THIS!!!! This is that moment that’ll define these awards.” The post referred to Stogie T receiving the award during the ceremony.

Other X users highlighted the collaboration behind “Four Horsemen”, with one post stating, “Let’s be Honest!! Stogie T feat Nasty C, Maggz & A Reece Four horseman really deserve to win this one, the best South African Hip Hop song made last year.. 🫶🏿🔥🔥”
