South African rapper The Big Hash has recently addressed the history of his relationship with fellow artist A-Reece, offering a timeline of their period of silence and eventual reconciliation. Speaking on the Spreading Humours podcast, he provided clarity on how their connection evolved over the years.
The Big Hash and A-Reece previously collaborated on the 2019 track “Outcast,” which also featured Flvme. The song marked a notable moment, bringing together artists associated with the same broader hip-hop space. At the time, their collaboration suggested alignment within the scene, although no further joint releases followed in subsequent years.
During his recent interview, The Big Hash explained that there was a period when he and A-Reece were no longer in communication. He stated, “Me and Reece, there was a time we didn’t speak,” indicating that the distance between them lasted for a significant stretch. According to his account, the situation was not driven by conflict or a specific dispute but rather a gradual halt in communication.
He clarified the nature of the situation further, saying, “It was maybe like two years, but it wasn’t a grudge. It was just like we just stopped speaking.” This suggests that their fallout did not stem from a public disagreement or documented fallout, but rather from circumstances that led to a pause in their interaction.
The Big Hash also acknowledged the impact of that period, noting that the experience was not without difficulty. “I’m not gonna sit here and be like, oh man, like that didn’t suck,” he said, reflecting on the reality of the situation without elaborating on specific details. He added that despite the distance, the passage of time eventually led to a reconnection.
Their reconciliation, according to The Big Hash, took place toward the end of 2024. He described the current state of their relationship in clear terms: “We fixed things… trust me, like we’re mad cool.” This indicates that communication has been restored and that both artists have moved past the earlier phase of silence.
He also referenced the timeline of their last in-person interaction prior to reconnecting, stating, “I think the last time before that we had seen each other was maybe 2021.” The eventual meeting after this period allowed them to address the gap directly.
As it stands, The Big Hash confirmed that their relationship has been stable since their reconnection. “We’ve been cool since end of 2024… we’re mad cool,” he said, emphasizing that their current dynamic reflects a renewed understanding.
