Official Liverpool FC standalone retail stores will open in South Africa next week, with stores at Canal Walk Mall in Cape Town and Mall of Africa in Johannesburg.
The Cape Town store will open its doors on Tuesday, 12 May, while the Johannesburg location will open on Friday, 15 May.
The new stores will bring the LFC retail store experience to Africa for the first time and mark the 24th and 25th stores the club has opened globally.
South Africa is home to 12.7 million LFC fans, making it the most supported international club in the country. It had 37 million cumulative TV viewers during the team’s title-winning 2024/25 season.
Fast-growing South African retailer will bring the Liverpool stores to South Africa under a five-year contract.
Old School will work on the official LFC Retail experience via online and offline channels, launching e-commerce and multiple shop-in-shops across South Africa in the first year.
“These store openings are an important moment for us as we bring the first official standalone retail stores to the region for the first time,” said Lee Dwerryhouse, Senior Vice President of Merchandising at LFC.
“South Africa has a deep and passionate Liverpool fanbase, and we’re proud to create new ways for supporters to connect with the club.”
The store openings will also form part of a wider week of in-market activity from the 17th to the 21st of May, as the club celebrates its arrival in South Africa.
This will include appearances from Liverpool Legend and South African-born Bruce Grobbelaar, who made 600 appearances and won six league titles in 13 years with the club.
Supporters will have the opportunity to see the UEFA Champions League trophy up close, while a series of fan engagement events will take place across the week.
Official store launch events will take place between the 17th and 21st of May, with the Cape Town in-store event on 19 May and the Johannesburg event on 21 May.
“The launch activity across the week reflects the scale of that support, and we’re looking forward to
celebrating with fans in Cape Town and Johannesburg as we continue to grow our global retail presence,” added Dwerryhouse.
