South African rapper Maraza has officially announced the release date and cover art for his forthcoming double disk album titled UNO. The project is scheduled for release on 29 May 2026 and carries deep personal meaning for the artist, as it is named after his late daughter, Uminathi Nandi Onothando, whose initials inspired the album title.
Sharing the announcement with fans on social media, Maraza revealed that the album will explore both grief and healing, while also marking a new chapter in his music career. Alongside the cover art reveal, he reflected on the emotional journey that shaped the project over the past four years.
“I am proud to announce; UNO 💿📀. A double disk album by MarazA,” he wrote.
The rapper went on to explain the significance behind the album’s title and structure, revealing that the project is divided into two parts that represent different stages of his life following the passing of his daughter.
“4 years ago I was fractured into a million pieces. Many of them still lie with my late daughter Uminathi Nandi Onothando (UNO) at her final resting place in a Joburg cemetery. Life as I knew it ended, but rebirth was inevitable,” he shared.
According to Maraza, the first disk focuses on mourning and remembrance, while the second reflects renewal and his return to music. He described the album as both a reflection of loss and a symbol of perseverance.
“This album represents not just the twilight of a mourning period (Disk 1, Uminathi Nandi Onothando), but also a triumphant return to form (Disk 2, numero UNO),” he wrote.
He further explained that the project captures both the struggles and victories he has experienced during this period of his life.
“It represents both my very real losses, and the wins I am actively crawling out the grave to chase. A face to face encounter where death drew first blood, only for that blood to water a seed that now bears fruit on the same battlefield.”
The rapper also encouraged supporters to pre-save the album ahead of its release date, directing fans to the link available in his social media bio.
