South African singer songwriter Muneyi has officially unveiled the visual release for his deeply moving single Khalanwaha, a collaboration with celebrated pianist and composer Dr. Nduduzo Makhathini. The artist recently took to Instagram to announce the arrival of the long-awaited music video and visualiser, inviting listeners into a world shaped by reflection, healing and spiritual grounding.

Blending indigenous folk influences with rich jazz textures, Khalanwaha arrives as more than just a song. It carries the feeling of reassurance for anyone navigating uncertainty, reminding listeners that difficult seasons are temporary and growth often rises from life’s hardest moments. Through its storytelling, the track gently encourages endurance, self belief and emotional restoration.

Sharing the release on Instagram, Muneyi wrote, “KHALANWAHA VISUALISER – now streaming on YouTube,” while also acknowledging the creative team behind the visual release and the people who helped bring the project to life.

Directed and creatively led by Francois Ferreira, the visual release expands on the emotional depth already carried within the song. Francois Ferreira also handled costume design, while photographer Aart Verrips contributed imagery that complements the heart of the record. The wider creative team included contributors across styling, production, editing and choreography, all working together to support the message behind the music rather than distract from it.

The song was originally released on 8 May 2026, the soothing Afropop and jazz inspired single pairs Muneyi’s deeply rooted Tshivenda storytelling with Dr. Nduduzo Makhathini’s spiritually driven musical language. The collaboration feels intentional and natural, uniting two artists whose work often centres healing, ancestry and identity through sound.

Muneyi has steadily built a reputation as one of South Africa’s most distinctive voices in alternative music. Singing primarily in Tshivenda, the award-winning artist continues to preserve language and memory through songwriting that draws from childhood experiences, oral tradition and everyday life. His rise has included winning the Afropunk Battle of the Bands competition in 2019, receiving the Standard Bank Young Artist Award for Music and earning recognition from the Pan South African Language Board for his songwriting contribution to language preservation.

Alongside him stands Dr. Nduduzo Makhathini, internationally respected for his ability to merge jazz with African spirituality and philosophy. As the first South African artist signed to Blue Note Records, his work has introduced global audiences to a deeply rooted form of musical expression grounded in ancestral connection.

Together, Muneyi and Dr. Nduduzo Makhathini have delivered a visual and musical experience that speaks softly yet carries lasting emotional weight.
