South African rapper ZuluMecca has invited artists from across the hip-hop community to take part in an open verse challenge inspired by her recently released single, CAP. The initiative gives aspiring and established rappers an opportunity to add their own verses to the track while showcasing their lyrical creativity.

Announcing the challenge on social media, ZuluMecca encouraged participants to download or duet the official challenge video and complete the song with their own verse. In her post, she wrote: “CALLING ALL RAPPERS!!! Download and/or Duet this video and spit a verse to finish the story. Dope verses get a treat. GO CRAZY! HAVE FUN… it’s cap after all. DON’T FORGET TO TAG ME!”

The challenge is centred around the storytelling element of the song, with participants tasked with continuing the narrative through their own lyrics. By allowing artists to interpret the track in their own way, the campaign creates space for different writing styles, flows and perspectives while remaining connected to the original record.

Since the announcement, several rappers and content creators have already begun sharing their entries on social media platforms. Videos featuring original verses have started circulating, with participants tagging ZuluMecca as requested to ensure their submissions are seen. More artists continue to join the challenge as the campaign gains momentum online.

Open verse challenges have become a popular way for musicians to engage directly with audiences while giving emerging talent an opportunity to be discovered. They also encourage collaboration between artists and fans, often extending the reach of a song beyond its initial release through user-generated content.

For participants, the process is straightforward. They can either download the challenge video or use the duet feature available on supported social media platforms, record their verse, and upload their performance while tagging ZuluMecca. According to her announcement, standout entries will receive a special reward, adding an extra incentive for rappers to take part.

The release of CAP and the accompanying challenge mark another interactive rollout for ZuluMecca, placing community participation at the centre of the campaign. As more verses continue to appear online, the challenge is providing a platform for rappers to demonstrate their skills while engaging with the new release.

With entries continuing to come in, the open verse challenge remains active, giving interested artists an opportunity to contribute their own take on CAP. Rappers looking to participate can still join by recording their verse, posting it on social media and tagging ZuluMecca, as the growing number of submissions continues to build around the track.
