Reality TV star, DJ and podcaster Patricia Tumi Motsoeneng-Shange, popularly known as Gogo Skhotheni, says she is done with being a traditional healer.

The 34-year-old media personality from eMbalenhle, Mpumalanga, opened up about her spiritual journey during an interview on Podcast and Chill. She made it clear that she no longer identifies as a sangoma.

She also said she has no plans to return to practising as a traditional healer. Her statement has again sparked conversation around faith, African spirituality and personal transformation.

“I’m Not a Sangoma”

Gogo Skhotheni said her decision is firm. She said she is no longer a sangoma and is not planning to go back to that life.

She admitted that life can change. However, she stressed that where she stands now, she does not see herself returning to ubungoma.

Her words come after she first shocked fans in 2025 when she announced that she was no longer practising as a traditional healer.

At the time, she said she had stopped consultations and was no longer giving out traditional products linked to her former practice. Now, she has repeated that message in a public interview.

Faith Now Comes First

Gogo Skhotheni said her relationship with God has become central to her life.

She has been open about her spiritual shift and has described herself as a child of God. However, she also said she is not rushing to become a pastor.

She explained that becoming a pastor is a serious calling. According to her, it requires discipline, commitment and respect for God.

She said she does not want to disrespect God by stepping into something she is not fully ready to carry. That statement shows that she sees her faith journey as serious, not just a public rebrand.

Still Prays for People

Although she no longer practises as a healer, Gogo Skhotheni said she still prays for people. She also said she still experiences spiritual visions.

However, she made it clear that those experiences do not mean she has returned to ubungoma. Instead, she sees them as part of her personal spiritual life.

This distinction is important because many fans still connect her public image to traditional healing. For years, she was known as Gogo Skhotheni.

Her name, brand and reality TV image were strongly linked to ubungoma. Now she is trying to define herself differently.

Respect for Ancestors Remains

Gogo Skhotheni also said her decision should not be seen as an attack on African spirituality.

She said she still respects her ancestors. She also acknowledged the role they played in her life. This is a key part of her message.

She is not trying to tell everyone to follow her path. She is also not trying to insult people who still practise African spirituality.

Instead, she says her journey is personal. She hopes it can stand as her own testimony.

Fans React to Her Journey

Her comments have again divided public opinion. Some fans have supported her and praised her for choosing a new path.

Others have questioned how someone can move away from ubungoma after building a public brand around it.

The debate is not new.

When she first announced her decision, social media users also shared mixed reactions. Some celebrated her spiritual shift.

Others raised questions about her former clients, initiates and followers who looked up to her as a traditional healer. Still, Gogo Skhotheni appears firm in her decision.

From Reality TV to DJing and Podcasting

Gogo Skhotheni rose to fame as a reality TV personality. Her show introduced many viewers to her life as a traditional healer and public figure.

Over time, she also became known for her bold personality, family life and controversial public moments.

She later moved into DJing and podcasting. Her shift away from ubungoma now adds another chapter to her changing public image.

She is no longer only seen as a traditional healer. She is now presenting herself as a woman focused on faith, entertainment and personal growth.

A New Chapter

Gogo Skhotheni says she is now focused on her relationship with God, her career and her own peace.

She has made it clear that she does not want to force anyone to follow her beliefs. She also does not want her journey to be used to attack people who still believe in African spirituality.
