With less than four days to the final of the 2021 Daily Trust Golf Tournament billed for Ibom Icon Golf Course in Uyo Akwa Ibom State capital supports have continued to reel in from sponsors.

The latest of the pool of sponsors so far for the event which tees off December 4th according to the organisers, include the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Innoson Vehicle Manufacturers, Defence Headquarters, Nigerian Navy, RwandaAir and Akwa Ibom State Government that have indicated interest in the tournament.

The one-day event will feature about 120 golfers drawn from across the country, especially from golfing cities as Benin, Enugu, Kano, Port Harcourt, Abuja, Kaduna, Katsina and Lagos to be specific.

Speaking ahead of the weekend event the General Manager, Business and Strategy, Daily Trust, Ahmed Shekarau said that the tournament will accommodate the crème of Nigeria’s golf players, captains of industry and special guests for a weekend of exciting golf while promoting national unity.

“We made the conscious decision to promote the game of golf through the Daily Trust Golf Tournament, because golf’s growing popularity among Nigeria’s prime movers has elevated the sport to a strategic meeting point for the elite class,” Shekarau said.

Apart from the numerous prizes to be won, the star prize for both the men and the ladies’ winner, is an all-expense-paid golfing weekend in Kigali, Rwanda; 3-night stay in a 5-star hotel in Kigali; 2-rounds of golf at the Premier 18-hole Kigali Golf Club and a business class round-trip on Abuja-Kigali ticket on Rwanda Air.
