Olawale Ogunkeyede, a businessman and sport enthusiast in Ibadan has described grassroots sports as a veritable means to promote private business which many entrepreneurs are yet to key into and utilize.

The Ibadan based philanthropist made this call while speaking with newsmen when he presented a car to a radio sports’ presenter with Nijar FM, Abass Ishola, to appreciate and encourage him in grassroots sports development.

“I so much believe in the efficacy of sports, especially at the grassroots to drive business, which has really worked for us with the help of this presenter. Some multinationals are using sports at the global stage, but we key into grassroots sports. We follow and support grassroots sports in our locality”, said the MD of Wal-Bog Motors.

He added, “We’ve been supporting grassroots football for the past three years, but we intend to support boxing too and that was what was responsible for the support we gave to the WBF title holder, Ridwan Scorpion Oyekola towards his fight against Mensah from Ghana on 27th of this month”.

While responding to the good gesture, the presenter who got a free Honda car from the sports enthusiast thanked Ogunkeyede for believing in him and his love for sports development, saying “I never knew some people are monitoring what we do on air, I only do my job diligently as much as I could.”
