Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong’o beautifully confirmed she is dating Selema Masekela on Instagram with a trendy video.

The Oscar-winning actress, who is usually private about her love life, posted an Instagram reel of her and Selema in sync with the choreography in matching couple outfits.

Who is Selema Masekela?

Lupita is well known for her roles in the Black Panther franchise and 12 Years of Slave with her performance receiving an Oscar. Selema is well known in his own right.

He is one of late jazz legend Hugh Masekela’s sons.

Revealing their relationship in the video, Lupita wrote: “We just click!  #thisismylove #nuffsaid.”

Selema, 51, was once a popular figure in the skateboarding world as he reported and presented the ESPN’s X Games and Winter X Games for 13 years.

He was also an NBA sideline reporter for ESPN during the 2003-2004 season and a lifestyle reporter for E! Entertainment.

Selema has also dabbled in acting and given back to his father’s home country South Africa.

He is on an advisory board of The Lunchbox Fund, a non-profit organisation which provides a daily meal to students of township schools in Soweto, and The Skatepark Project.

Selema was born and raised in Los Angeles, his mother is Haitian.

Selema’s father Hugh Masekela passed away in January 2018 after losing a battle with prostate cancer.

He was first diagnosed in 2008.

Speaking about his relationship with Lupita, Selema wrote: “Hearts are synched. My whole and actual love @lupitanyongo.”

Black Panther success

Currently, Black Panther has made nearly $600 million globally and on the African continent, it was a huge success as well.

Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever roared into cinemas across the continent this past weekend (11-13 November, including previews) and, in doing so, lit up the box office.

This is according to Disney Africa.

“Across all territories, the follow up to Ryan Coogler’s 2018 hit Black Panther proved a draw for cinema-going audiences with just under 300 000 attendances being reported,” wrote Disney Africa in a statement.
