The IBB International Golf and Country Club will come alive once again as the Falcon Golf Development Company (FGDC) is set to host the 2021 International Pairs competition in Abuja.

The two-day competition scheduled for September 3-5, 2021is the sixth edition of the tournament and it is already generating interest among golfers across the country.

The Chief Executive Officer of FGDC, Remi Olukoya, who disclosed this information in Lagos during the week said that this year’s edition will be a keenly contested affair.

He noted that the winner will enjoy an all expense paid trip to Algarve in Portugal, where the world final of the competition has been schedule to hold from October 26-30, 2021.

However, it was revealed that only 6o-pairs would be allowed to participate in the competition, just as the 60-pairs would be on first come, first served basis.

“We are planning to make this year’s event unique in the sense that spaces for would-be participants is limited to just 60-pairs. This is to enable us manage the players well and get result ready on time and to also be in compliant with Covid-19 rules”, he explained.

While pleading for support from corporate organizations and individuals, Olukoya disclosed that Rwanda Air has already joined the fray with a business class ticket to Kigali.

“We need a lot of support; we need individuals and corporate support to make the championship a success. And don’t forget the winners will not just be representing themselves at the world finals but the Country as well”, he added.

The International Pairs World Final Series is an International Golf Tournament; since its inception, more than 1.5 million amateur golfers from over 50 countries have enjoyed competing in this exciting, friendly and prestigious event.

The tournament would be played with strict adherence to Covid-19 rules.
