Acclaimed actor and DC Universe star Viola Davis have added a Grammy to her long list of accolades, thus officially achieving EGOT status.

At the 2023 Grammy Awards, Davis took home the honor for Best Audio Book, Narration & Storytelling for her work on the audiobook version of her memoir, Finding Me. The other audiobooks nominated for the award were Act Like You Got Some Sense by Jamie Foxx, All About Me!: My Remarkable Life in Show Business by Mel Brooks, Aristotle and Dante Dive Into the Waters of the World by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Music Is History by Questlove.

For the uninitiated, EGOT refers to the accomplishment of winning one at least one Emmy, one Grammy, one Oscar (i.e. Academy Award) and one Tony Award. In addition to newcomer Davis, other members of the EGOT club include Jennifer Hudson, John Legend, Whoopi Goldberg and even the aforementioned Mel Brooks, to name a few. When counting non-competitive/honorary awards, other EGOT winners include Barbra Streisand, James Earl Jones and Quincy Jones.

Prior to her Grammy win, Davis began her EGOT journey in 2001, winning the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play for her role as Tonya in King Hedley II. Davis added a second Tony to her résumé in 2010, winning Best Leading Actress in a Play for her role as Rose Maxson in Fences. In 2015, Davis won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Annalise Keating on ABC’s How to Get Away with Murder. Finally, in 2017, Davis won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Rose in the big-screen treatment of Fences.
