Okunola Eyes Over 150 Golfers For IGC 18th Ladies Open

Mary Okunola, Lady Captain of badan Golf Club (IGC) has revealed plans to host close to 150 golfers nationwide expected to participate in the 18th edition of the IGC Ladies Open scheduled for Friday 25 to Sunday 27 of February 2022.

The event tagged: “Swing Sensation” according to Okunola will also be attended by the executives of Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria (LAGAN), while the ladies night termed ‘Valentine re-mix’, slated for Saturday 26th will be filled with lots of excitement.

Friday, which is the arrival according to the lined-up program, will also witness a cocktail, veteran with handicap 29-36 ladies’ game and an award night, while ladies with handicap 0-28 will take the course along with guest men.; Sunday, the day-2 of the tournament will host the concluding games and closing ceremony and price presentations.

The event will also signal the end of the tenure Mary Okunola and other executive committee which includes the top ladies golfers as: Chief (Mrs.) Ronke Thomas as Vice Lady Captain, Ms. Evelyn Oyome as Competition Secretary, Ms. Grace Brown as Handicap Secretary, Ms. Omolaraeni Olaosebikan as Secretary.

While speaking in retrospect, Okunola who was also former vice president LGAN southwest said to have hosted many memorable events in the past which included the western zone Ladies Open for two consecutive years at the IGC as well as the Women Golf’s day.

“I thank God for a successful tenure that is filled with sweet and sore memories, as I pray for the repose of the soul of the late Captain Ola Ibironke Dudu. We did our best with a series of children’s golf clinics to encourage the youth, and help them to develop interest and grow their aspirations’ ‘, she noted.
