The Proteas won the toss and chose to bowl first in their crucial ODI against the Netherlands at Willowmoore Park in Benoni on Friday afternoon.

With direct qualification for the 2023 ODI World Cup up for grabs, the Proteas need to try and force a result to give them the best possible chance of getting through.

But with plenty of rain forecast it is likely Proteas skipper Temba Bavuma is hoping that his gun bowling attack, featuring the returning Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje who were rested for the West Indies ODI series, can bowl the visitors out cheaply and that they can chase the score down before the scheduled rain takes hold.

South Africa: Temba Bavuma, Quinton de Kock, Rassie van der Dussen, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Heinrich Klaasen, Marco Jansen, Sisanda Magala, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Tabraiz Shamsi

Netherlands: Vikram Singh, Max O’Dowd, Musa Ahmed, Wesley Barresi, Scott Edwards, Teja Nidamanuru, Shariz Ahmad, Aryan Dutt, Ryan Klein, Paul van Meekeren, Fred Klaasen
