Orlando Pirates’ winning momentum should be something coach Jose Riveiro, with the club aiming for the strongest possible finish to the DStv Premiership season.

The Buccaneers will continue their bid to finish second in the table and qualify for next season’s Caf Champions League at home to Cape Town City today.

Pirates have enjoyed a six wins in a row across all competitions, though one of those was only a victory via a penalty shoot out against Dondol Stars in the Nedbank Cup quarterfinals.

The Buccaneers haven’t been much convincing in some of their victories, but have managed to grind out results.

For Riveiro, however, it surely won’t matter how they succeed as long as they do.

Pirates face Cape Town City with their tails up and looking at how they won against Dondol, Riveiro believes it will make his players stronger.

“I am always positive and optimistic. The fact that we played penalty shootout and we won will make us stronger in the future when we find ourselves in the same scenario,” said Riveiro.

“We are still going to play important games this season. So, for me everything counts, all the experiences we have together. It’s always positive.”

Riveiro’s men are third on the log with 43 points after 25 matches going into the meeting with Eric Tinkler’s City. The Buccaneers are just one point behind second placed SuperSport United, but Matsatsanta have played one game more.
