The Commissioner’s house and those belonging to his aged father were set ablaze by the hoodlums on Saturday night at his hometown at Obibi Awo – Idemili in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State.
It was the second time Chief Akaolisa’s house was burnt.
Houses belonging to government officials whose properties are sited in Orlu, Oru East, Orsu axis had also suffered destruction in the last 12 months.
Last year, the house of Commissioner for Information and Strategy Declan Emelumba was razed at Orsu LGA Secretariat.
The houses of Commissioner of Labour, Employment and Productivity, Chief Prince Ford Ozumba; Hon. Ekene Nnodumele, the member representing Orsu State Constituency in Imo Assembly and other political leaders like Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide President General, Prof. George Obiozor have been razed so far.
Chief Akaolisa lamented the burning of his house and the killings, arson and destructions in Igbo land.
He said if the destructions and killings being committed by these hoodlums continued without visible reaction by all, they would consume all sooner or later.
This time around, according to the commissioner, the hoodlums showed no mercy as they reduced the houses to rubble.
Confirming the incident, Akaolisa accused his Igbo brothers of being responsible for the razing of his house and his father’s.
“Through my many years of struggle, I have managed to put a block on another to build a befitting house for my family.
“My aged father also has a house he built through his sweats. Today, both buildings are in rubbles and ashes – our fellow Igbos burnt them,” he lamented.
Imo Police spokesman CSP Michael Abattam confirmed the incident to the Nation.
“The house was burnt by hoodlums, but we are investigating the incident,” he said.
