‘Zoom’ in for BRICS
As reported by The Sunday Times, government is in talks with Russian representatives to prevent any tensions leading up to and during President Vladimir Putin’s upcoming visit in August.
Putin is set to participate in the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) summit, which will be held in Johannesburg in August.

South Africans return from Sudan
Fifty-three South Africans, who were evacuated from Sudan, have safely returned to their homeland.
Dr. Naledi Pandor, the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, welcomed the group upon their arrival at Waterkloof Air Base.
Dirco spokesperson Clayson Monyela said they returned after ten South Africans and a Zimbabwean national landed at OR Tambo International Airport on Saturday evening, following their evacuation from the conflict-stricken Sudan.

Horror accident caught on cam
Dramatic video footage from an accident in Kariega shows a driver losing control of his vehicle, crashing into a concrete pole, and then flipping through the air, striking two pedestrians.

The incident occurred shortly after 7am on Saturday morning on Caledon Street in Kariega (formerly Uitenhage), resulting in the deaths of two individuals and leaving a third with severe injuries.
The driver of the Toyota Yaris was later identified as 36-year-old John Tessner from Kariega, who reportedly died on impact.
