Vusumuzi Vilakazi says he’d be sad to lose a hard worker like midfielder Pule Mmodi at Golden Arrows.

Mmodi has been a consistent feature in the Arrows starting lineup this season amassing 30 appearances so far.

But he could leave Arrows at the end of the season and link up with one of the big Gauteng teams.

Mmodi’s future has been subject of speculation for the past three transfer windows.

He was heavily linked with a move to Orlando Pirates before the start of the season but the move didn’t happen because he was said to be not so keen.

He felt Pirates are overcrowded in his position and Phakaaathi’s Mgosi Squad reported that he was hoping for a move to Kaizer Chiefs.

With the season coming to an end soon, and the transfer window opening in July, Mmodi is one of the players expected to change clubs.

“As a player, I like Pule and I’d love to have him at any time because he is working very hard for us,” Vilakazi told the media at the weekend.

“Even now, we’re seeing speculations about him but he’s still working very hard for us.

“So, he’s a player that when you think of people who will fight for you, he always raises his hand to say, ‘I’m available’,” added Vilakazi.

Mmodi is key in Arrows setup

Vilakazi said while he is not sure at the moment what will happen, he surely would appreciate keeping him in  his team.

“So, we will see what happens…if we have Pule next season, we would be happy with that.”

It has also been reported that Arrows would like to keep on-loan Neverdie Makhubela who has been a constant good performer for the team.

Makhubela is on loan from Orlando Pirates who had bought him from Arrows two years earlier. But he had failed to break into the team at Pirates hence the loan back to Abafana Bes’thende.

At Arrows, however, Makhubela has been a vital cog and came at the time when the team needed his creative displays as they struggled for form.

He has also never missed a single match since his return to the Durban side. It is not clear how long his loan is and if Pirates will bring him back.
