Georgia Oboh, Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) of Nigeria sensational player is no doubt in perfect swings entering the round three of the four-day tournament in Libreville Gabon.
The UK, Manchester-based professional is in joint lead with South Africa’s Zethu Miyeki on 154 gross over two days as a stiff contest is expected in the remaining two rounds for a winner to emerge.
However, Oboh who turned a professional as a teenager in 2018, opened round one on Thursday on 77 gross, 5-over course par and maintained same on Friday, 77 in round two for a gross of 154 over two days, 10-over course par to maintain a vantage position.
The joint leader, Miyeki, opened on 76 gross, 4-over course par in round one, but capitulated in round two on 78 gross to level on 154 gross, 10-over course par with Oboh.
The closest rival to Oboh and Miyeki, is Lea Ndjobouela, who shot 81,80 over two days for a 161 gross, 17-over course par; a seven shot behind the duo of Oboh and Miyeki.
Incidentally, LPGA of Nigeria Captain, Sharon Wesley in an earlier interview expressed her joy over Oboh’s impressive performance.
“While my first two rounds were rough, I’m very happy to see my compatriot and sister, Georgia Oboh, doing very well; I pray that she will finish the remaining two rounds better than the previous rounds to enable her grab the title,” she said.
In all of these the players will have to step up their games in the remaining rounds of Saturday and Sunday for the decider.
