Sharon Wesley, the Captain of Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) of Nigeria has hailed the performance of Georgia Oboh who finished second at the 2023 Open De Libreville which ended on Sunday in the Gabonese capital of Libreville.
Wesley in a chat with SOKOnnect on Sunday after the event eulogised Oboh as a “true professional” finishing second in spite of the odds against her build up to the tee off of the event.
“Oboh has really proved herself as a top lady professional from Nigeria; she arrived the tournament hurriedly at the last minute, no practice, even without her golf bag, yet she was atop till the last day and finished second.
“In fact, Oboh is my joy in this Open and the pride of Nigeria; I urge her to sustain the tempo, because she still has a lot to give in the game going forward,” she concluded while also commending the parents for always being there for her.

Oboh who was aiming for her second African title ended the 72-hole event on 308 gross, 20-over course par, eight shots behind champion, Zethu Miyeki of South Africa, who grossed 300, 12-over course par.
Over the four days, Oboh shot 77, 77, 73, 81, while Miyeki shot 76, 78 74 72 to emerge the newest champion of the ladies at the 38 edition of Open De Libreville which held at Libreville Golf Club, Gabon.
Recall Oboh won her maiden African title at the November 2018 Cote de Ivoire Open, which was also her debut professional game.
As at the time of putting this story together on Sunday, the result of the men’s event was yet to reach SOKOnnect.
