Following a cry for financial assistance from the Management of Saki United representing Oyo State in the on-going AITEO Cup, the commissioner for Youths and Sports, Seun Fakorede has assured the team of government’ support.

Asiwaju Fakorede revealed this while speaking with newsmen in his office and congratulating the club after they handed out a resounding 2-0 defeat to hard-fighting Sokoto Professionals yesterday in Minna, Niger State.

The Management of Saki United has earlier cried out for help from government and other corporate bodies saying it may not honour its next match against an NPFL side, Katsina United slated for Sokoto State on Sunday.

The commissioner in his explanations said, “this administration is ready to assist and support any team or athlete representing the state in any sporting competition, but separate budgets will have to be made for such eventuality and Saki United and Housing Corporation FC that are representing our State in the Federations Cup will be assisted.”

It is worthy of mention that Saki United finished second behind 3SC in the 2021/22 IFA League but edged out the 3SC, in the semi-final of the State AITEO CUP Competition by 5-4 penalties. Saki came back from 0-2 to level up 2-2 in a pulsating encounter and then won the ensuing penalty shoot-out.
