Chris Danjuma, Falconets head coach has said that his girls team lost 2-0 against the Netherlands in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup on Sunday night because they could not take advantage of their chances in the game.
This he described as poor finishing and hard luck as the Falconets have bowed out of the competition following the defeat.
The Falconets could not reenact earlier round performances, which saw them winning all three group phase matches, in their quarter-final match in Alajuela, Costa Rica.
Zera Hulswit and Ziva Henry scored for the Netherlands against Nigeria.
Speaking at his post-match press conference, Danjuma said, “This is football when your opponent capitalises on your mistake and they punish you for that.
“I think we had these few mistakes starting and we were punished for it and we had our chances and we could not take it.
“Football is all about taking your chances. But it is just unfortunate because nobody wants to go into the game and lose. We wanted to go all the way, but it did not happen.”
