King Charles and Queen Camilla’s 20-year marriage shows that love, even royal love, can flourish with time and resilience.
It is difficult to believe that Britain’s King Charles and Queen Camilla have been married for 20 years.
But, clearly, they’re in it for the long haul and appear to have weathered the tough times they went through.
They’ve known each other for more than 50 years and it seems that Camilla was always Charles’ true love… and he must have regretted not pursuing her in the 1970s when their brief romance ended as he joined the Royal Navy.
His fairy-tale marriage with Princess Diana turned out to be anything but… and after their divorce became official in 1996 after four years of separation, Charles should have been free to turn to Camilla.

However, the tabloid British press demonised Camilla for years as the “other woman” as they elevated Diana to sainthood.
Even when the way was clear, the Anglican Church refused to marry them because they were both divorced… so the ceremony took place in a registry office.
Charles, who has been in a battle with cancer for the past few years, has always gone out of his way to show his support – and love – for Camilla, whom he calls his “beloved wife” and “steadfast support”.
May they enjoy their “golden years” together.
