Enene Fonne (Mrs), the Lady Captain of Abakaliki Golf Club in Ebonyi State may not be a prolific golfer among the lady golfers in Nigeria, but her exploits in human development and management in recent times has catapulted her to stardom on and off the golf course.
Only in September 21, 2021 Fonne, the first ever Lady Captain of the Abakaliki Golf Club was rewarded with an appointment for her hard work by the Nations Positive Livelihood Award Centre (UN-POLAC ) as an International Peace Advocate in a ceremony that held in Lagos.
By the appointment, Fonne will be actively involved in peace-making, conflict resolution and other activities that encourage peace and positive living anywhere in the world.
Invariably, the appointment comes with the following benefits: UN-POLAC Certificate of Appointment; UN-POLAC International Identity Card; Investiture Apparel; UN-POLAC Flag of Authority to be hoisted at any place of your choice and UN-POLAC Special Vehicle Plate Number in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC)..
The United Nations Positive Livelihood Award Centre (UN-POLAC) is an international autonomous institution, established in the year 2001 with the UN and UNESCO following General Assembly Resolution declaring 2001-2010 as a decade of peace and non-violence.
In the same vein, the UN-POLAC’s mandate is to enhance the effectiveness of the UN millennium development goals and UNESCO Culture of Peace Programme particularly the maintenance of peace and security and the restoration of human dignity.
It would be recalled that Fonne was in the main stream of the Abakaliki Golf Club before the the Ladies Section was established in 2020.
