AHEAD PGAN 2022/2023 Q’SCHOOL: Abeokuta’s Arowolo Dreams Big

As the Professional Golfers’Association (PGA) of Nigeria gets set to host its students for the forthcoming Qualifying School examination Samson Olumide Arowolo one of the students already has a coaching dream if he qualifies.

Although, the PGA of Nigeria is yet to fix a specific date and venue between June and and July tentatively mentioned as the months for the examination Arowolo however, told SOKOnnect in a weekend chat that he would want to become a “golf coach” on qualification as a professional golfer.

According to the Abeokuta Golf Club star player dwelling on his preparations, “I want to be a ‘tour professional’ golfer within and outside Nigeria, also I want to be teaching and coaching beginners in golf.”

But to achieve this lofty dream, the 2022 Ikeja Corporate Challenge Cup winner said that he was not taking anything for granted to enable him come out tops at the Qualifying School (Q’School).

“My preparations toward PGA Nigeria Qualifying School is going on smoothly; I’ve been disciplining myself and have been focused to avoid distractions; most importantly, working hard on my game – to perfect some specifics,” he said with supplications.

In this regard he added, “I’m also getting all the kits I need ready before the event,” just as he would love to be at the venue of the Q’School two weeks before the commencement of the examination ostensibly for acclimatisation.

Recall that Arowolo during the the Q’School Seminar which held at the Nigerian Armed Forces Staff College, Jaji in Kaduna State, was among the top players when the practical exercise held at the Ola Saad Ibrahim Golf Club.

Incidentally, Arowolo who started playing golf in 2007, at his amateur level has won several trophies, his first tournament being the MTN sponsored Osun Osogbo Open, Osun State same year and in 2008, Yolass Open in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Also to his credit in the trophy archive are Nigeria Brewery Tournament, Aba, Abia State 2012; Pa Mark Open, Otukpo, Benue State 2012 and Arsenal Open, Obinze, Owerri, Imo State 2013.

Others are Tiger Open, Ibadan, Oyo State 2014; Ogun State Governor’s Cup 2015; NIG Brewery Open, Abeokuta 2016 Corporate Challenge Cup, Ikeja 2016 among others.

He was also the champion of the Soft Alliance Open IGC, Ibadan; OBJ Open, Abeokuta and Governor Seyi Makinde Women Surport Tournament, IGC, Ibadan all in 2018.
