Yesterday, the Forbes family gathered media for a briefing from AKA’s father, Tony Forbes, who’s the family’s spokesperson. Speaking during the briefing, which was held at Rockets in Bryanston, Forbes addressed the current speculations making rounds on the social media streets around the murder of AKA.
AKA’s crew, especially close friend Don Design, are being implicated in the rapper’s passing by cheap conspiracy theorists after a video of the tragic event surfaced online early this week. “We send our moral support to the friends that were with him in his last moments as we feel their trauma and pain as well,” Forbes said. “Our home will always be open to them. We do not condone what is being said about his friends and those making dangerous statements and appeal for them to cease from doing so.”
Forbes’ words echo those of AKA affiliates and friends, Da L.E.S and Yanga Chief who both rubbished the claims on Twitter.
Tony Forbes paid his respects to his late son, saying:
“We as the Forbes family would like to acknowledge the outpouring of love we have received over the past few days Kiernan wasn’t just loved by us as a family, but by the nation, as we’ve seen from loved ones, friends, industry colleagues, media tributes and the Megacy. It is our wish to celebrate the life of Kiernan with those he touched and impacted through his gift of music. His memorial will therefore be open to the public as well as streamed online. Kiernan will be laid to rest in a private provincial funeral on Saturday, 18 February 2023.”
