The Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike Women Association (AE-FUNAI WA) in Ebonyi State on Wednesday December 8, 2021 held its End Of The Year Party at the Needs Assessment Building of the University amid fanfare.
Sponsored by the association’s President, Dr. Chinyere Elom, the colourful event which brought together the female staff of the University, was geared towards fostering the spirit of love, camaraderie, oneness and conviviality among staff, especially as the world approaches the Yuletide as well as thanking God for His mercies and preservation in the out-going year.
Dr.Elom who also is the Acting Director, Centre for Enhancement of Teaching and Learning, in her opening remark thanked God for protecting the women of the University against Covid-19 as no female staff was lost.
She also appreciated God for the various achievements the University has recorded so far, adding that the prayers of members of the association, who she described as a “special breed from God,” went a long way in instituting the new administration.
Speaking further, the President emphasised that the executive of the association deemed it necessary to host a party to ‘celebrate the love of God to mankind as love conquers all and to celebrate God’s unending mercies and faithfulness to the University throughout 2021.’
She eulogised members of the association for their hard work, support and dedication to the University, describing them as women who love God and keep to his commandments, advising them to keep putting God first in everything they do as God has never failed and to also work hard to meet up to the expectations of the University.
Highlights of the occasion were prayer and praise sessions, dance, drama and presentation of award to the most dedicated female staff, Mrs. Precious Chinyere Ugwu of the Students’ Affairs Department.
While receiving the award, Mrs. Ugwu thanked the wife of the Vice-Chancellor for organising thrilling even filled with ‘merriment, love, laughter and sumptuous meals,’ just as she thanked the organisers for the award and encouraged all to work hard and to be dedicated to their work as according to her, ‘hard work pays.’
