A second international tourist to South Africa has been reported missing in Cape Town.

According to reports, a 38-year-old American national named Julie Goodness was reported missing earlier on 25 April, in Cape Town Central, as confirmed by the South Africa Police Services (Saps).

It was reported that Goodness was last seen in Higgovale on Monday, 24 April, and was reported missing after failing to return home.

She is approximately 1.6m tall, weighing around 50kg, with dark brown hair and blueish-grey eyes. According to her family members she usually wears her hair tied in a ponytail.

The family said Goodness was last seen wearing a purple or pink long sleeve sports top, blue jeans, and colourful sneakers with pinkish soles.

She had a big black oversized puffer jacket and a canvas tote bag in a cream/off-white colour.

Goodness is an avid trail runner, so she may be on the mountain somewhere. If seen, the public is urged to contact Warrant Officer Toua on 061 441 0530.

German tourist also missing

This is the second recent case of a foreign national going missing in Cape Town. Last week, a German tourist, Nick Frischke, was reported missing.

Frischke, who was on holiday in Cape Town, was last spotted leaving his bed and breakfast located in Pinelands on 14 February. The 22-year-old vanished after allegedly being robbed on a hiking trail in Cape Town.

Authorities are investigating the case, and a reward of R20 000 has been announced by Frischke’s family to anyone who can provide information regarding his whereabouts.

Both cases have raised concerns regarding the safety of foreign tourists in Cape Town. As investigations continue, authorities and the public are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

Last month, a German couple was robbed of their foreign currency, passports, and other belongings while staying at a guest house in Addo, Eastern Cape. Within hours of the incident, a police task team successfully apprehended three suspects in connection with the robbery.

According to Colonel Priscilla Naidu, the couple had been sleeping when four armed suspects entered the guest house and held them at gun point.
